Here are some great tips to help you save time and energy.
Preparing ahead of time is
one of the best tips to almost any organizational or time
saving meal tip. These time saving tricks will truly make a difference
if you give them a shot.
- Plan meals at the
beginning of the week making sure to incorporate the use of
leftovers. Buying and cooking a little
extra on roasted chicken night will ensure enough for a delicious soup for
the following evening.
- Keep a notepad on the
front of the refrigerator for your shopping list. When you run out of
something, write it down right away. Encourage family members to do so
as well. Nothing wastes time more than last minute runs to the store
for forgotten items.
- If you know you are not
going to have time to cook one evening, prepare two meals the night before
and just reheat the next night.
- When preparing meals using
chopped onions, grated cheese etc. make twice as much and save for
another meal.
- This tip is one I always
have a problem with (I'm a sloppy cook) - clean your kitchen as you
go. Doing so will save time scraping dried up sauce on the counter and
stepped on crumbs underfoot.
- On grocery shopping day,
have your children help individually wrap their cookies, snacks , etc. for
their lunches. Makes lunch time prep for the rest of the week a breeze
and snacks don't disappear before lunches are made.
- When planning meals
consider your schedule. If you have an extra 30 minutes Monday
morning, but have no time for meal prep Monday evening, Plan a crock pot
meal for that day.
- If buying fresh; Choose
fruits,
vegetables and herbs and
spices that are fresh, ripe or close to ripe so they are perfect when
you need them.
